than several cities in the United States. The areas where we operate, such
as El Poblado, Envigado, and Provenza, have a strong police presence and a
very controlled environment. As with any city in the world, however, it's
important to use common sense and stay aware of your belongings. Overall,
the experience is safe and comfortable for our clients.
Medellín has a stable tropical climate throughout the year. It's common to
have short periods of rain followed by sunny weather, and rain usually
doesn't last all day. Weather apps may show a high probability of rain, but
this is because the city sits in a valley with frequent cloud coverage —
which doesn't always mean actual rain.
We recommend not exchanging money at the airport, since the rates are
usually unfavorable. Instead, the best options are Panacambios (located in
several shopping malls) and Sur Cambios. Both offer better rates and higher
security than airport kiosks.
It's not necessary to bring large amounts of cash. Most places — including
restaurants, clubs, experiences, and services — accept credit cards and
digital payments. Cash is mainly used for tips and small expenses, and if
needed, you can easily withdraw more from ATMs around the city.
In most restaurants and venues, a 10% service charge is already included.
If you'd like to give extra for good service, you can add an additional
5-10% directly to the staff member. That said, tipping is part of the local
culture, but it's not mandatory.
Early check-in depends on property availability. If there's no booking the
previous day, it may be free; otherwise, it may come with an additional cost.
